There are so many great artists in the Underground Music genres of Gothic, Ethereal, Industrial, EBM and Synthpop music. I am so impressed with the latest releases by artists in these genres. I have a very hard time trying to keep up with all of them. However, I want to do my part to try and spread the word around about some of these great artists. That is why I have included this section in Gothic Paradise.
Here you will find many of the artists that I feel may not get the promotion they deserve. Others that I include here that are on the larger labels, are ones that have been favorites of mine for many years and have stood the test of time to remain in my list of favorites. I will keep this section updated with the latest reviews as I am able to get the latest releases and time to review them. I also try and add information about each artist so that if you like the little bit that I present here, you may find out more from their official website or their labels, and where possible find how to purchase them.

As I receive lots of requests from different labels and artists to add their music here I've been inundated with everything from what I deem the very best music released in my lifetime to some of the most degrading and horrible stuff I've ever heard. Ive spent the majority of my 30+ years listening to music and developing a taste that is picky yet very broad across many genres. One thing Ive grown to recognize is how music really has a unique power to persuade, uplift or otherwise alter the listener's thinking and moods.
It is about this powerful influence that the mood, messages in the lyrics and other elements of music portray that I want to make a note of today. Sometimes I'll give a poor or less than average review of a certain album that may be popular in the music scene in general. Of course I stick my neck out on the line by giving my opinion, but I would dare say that in most cases the reason my ratings drop for an album that may have good quality music and a solid fan base are based not on the quality of the music produced, but based on the content and overall feeling I get while listening to the music. Don't get me wrong, if the quality is good, I will commend the artist for that, and sometimes encourage the artist to do better in the lyrics they use that the music portrays. Sometimes this degradation is portrayed simply in the name of the album, artwork on the album, obscene, rude or hateful liner notes or some lyrics full of vulgar or hateful language that really rubs me the wrong way. I realize that music is a great media for artists to express their views, whether they are political, religious, emotional or otherwise. But it is when artists use music to bring out their vulgar language and hateful remarks that I find distasteful. To me, it's more of a lack of a decent vocabulary than anything else when music is riddled with degrading content. I understand the need to express frustration and anger in music and some of my favorites are full of this aggressive tone, but they are done tastefully, with a thoughtful and educated vocabulary that fully and effectively expresses the writer's feelings.
In summary, I just want to express to the artists that have already caught the vision of sharing their music in a tasteful way to keep up the great work. You will find many of these artists here. I would encourage other talented artists to dig deep inside and think next time you write a lyric, or include a sample to think about the best and most tasteful way to present your music to the world. Will it be degrading and bring the listener down in a hateful and vulgar manner, or will it build up and leave the listener a better person. I speak to artists of all Gothic/Industrial sub-genres, because I enjoy them all, from the harshest power noise and industrial to the softest ethereal and ambient music. You have it in you; I challenge you to show the world the best that is in you!
